It's almost Caribana.

It's quite late on a friday night. I was actually home, chillin' for the first time in a long time.

I have to admit, I'm a bit nervous for tomorrow. It'll be fun, but I'm a tad scared. Why? Just because I'm not sure how the day will go. Again, it's nice to jump in and just do it.

Tara wants to take off early for Quebec City. Should we?

Sure, why not? where shall we go?

Dunno. Cornwall?

Not a G-string and a Feather, Spidey, and the King and I.

So, it's been a while. What's been up? Nuthin' really. Tara and I went to like 2 movies in a row....Well, Wednesday night and Thursday night.

Finally, I saw Spider Man 2. My thoughts? I liked it. I'll withhold my thoughts as to not make this a spoiler Blog.

The other movie, King Arthur. Not bad as well. Is it historically accurate? Unsure, but apparently the actual history of ole Arty is unclear. Again, I'll withhold comments as to not make this a spoiler.

And today I picked up my costume for Caribana. It's not bad. Again, there are feathers, and other stuff....But not as bad as you would think.

I'll get some photos, as I'm chargin' my batteries for tomorrow.

Oh, next week I'll be headin' out to Quebec City with Tara.

'nuff Said.

What's the Wait time?

O.k. sometimes I'm the sounding board for my friends. I don't mind, but when I'm asked advice, especially when I don't even know where to begin, I usually just say "Hmmm....I dunno. What do you think?"...and that seems to be o.k.

I got a call from a friend, who...let's call him "Scott". "Scott" [we'll refrain from the 'quotes' from here on in.,..] and I were working at this summer project. We weren 't working in the same area, but in the rooms ajoining. In his group, he had quite a few interesting people, and some really friendly people.

So, he meets this girl, who's kinda cute, and it takes him like 2 1/2 weeks to even start chatting her up. O.k, that's fine as he just got out of a doozy of a relationship just a few months prior. This girl is from a town up north, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Scott gets her number before she goes back home, and calls her on Sunday night. O.k, fine. She gave him this number on Friday, so I'm thinkin' Sunday is o.k.

Anyway, he calls me today askin' why she hasn't called. I tell him that maybe she's waiting 3 days, but who knows. He doesn't like that answer.

I say "Maybe she's not gonna call..maybe you were a fling for this summer project?"

He didn't like that. Maybe I should have been more understanding, but with guys, I think we can have a bit of a rough edge to our comments.

Again, I told him that today maybe too early, and he should wait until tomorrow, and try again on THursday. If no call after that, he should forget about it.

Was I wrong? I say no.

Tour of Beldan.

Mark's just left for BC, for a few days. It turned out that it was easier for him to chill here, so I brought Mark back to Pickering from the Airport, and we went and saw everybody that he wanted to see..

So, that's good.

I'm now just catching up on some Summer stuff that I wanted to get done, and cleaning up my room. Ugh...

Chris' in Rice Lake, with Jacquie and Co., and I've been getting text messages from him from his phone. He said he wanted to 'unplug', but it seems it's hard to take the tech out of Chris... Again, quite funny.

I was supposed to go camping today, but with the weather not co-operating, I thin I'll pass for now, so I'll have to make a few calls, and let the troops know.

Old Co-workers, interesting times, and Mark Beldan's back in Town!!!

Friday night, I went to Trippy's, and chilled. We watched some movies, and had a few drinks. Not too bad, as it's been about a month since we've last hung out.

Saturday night, I saw my old staff, which was nice. It was great to see the old crew, and find out what's up.

and quickly, Sunday afternoon, I'm about to leave to get Mark from the Airport. He's in the Great White for a few weeks, so it'll be nice to see him again.

His flight was supposed to land at 14:35, but the Toronto Airport arrival board says 14:45, and the actual carrier of the flight (British Airways) says 14:55. Who do I go by?

Well, at least it's better than when my dad took Jetsgo once, and there was no record of the flight at all.

Someone beat us to it...

So, today, not a bad day, but for the most part, just status quo. Work was work, but at least it's something to do. It's nice to hear your 'boss' say "don't work to fast, or we'll put ourselves out of a job"....so, at least she's on our side.

I went out for a tea with Chris, Jacquie and Steve, and then Steve's brother joined us after. Again, it's nice that JJ joins, as he's a neat guy. Next week he's going for his AZ license (I think it's that, basically so he can be a Trucker), so I think he'll enjoy doing that.

Over Tea, we were discussing board games, and Monopoly came up, with all of it's wonderful spin-offs, like LOTR, Simpsons, Catopoly, Star Wars, etc. And in a stroke of genius..."What about Pornopoply?"

So, after some giggling, and some brainstorming, we figured we should consult the World Wide Web, and see if someone has done this. Again, it would really be a long shot that nobody has done this, but worth checkin' out anyway.

So, it's been taken. Oh well...besides, I'm not sure Parker Brothers would be into allowing rights to that game, seeing that Monopoly is a family game.

Again, fun mental exersise...

what else hasn't been done for Monopoly? What shouldn't be done?

Growing Pains Monoploy? Seinfeld Monopoly? O.k, not a great thing.

And thank you Chris, you've got your CD's...

Rembrants? sheesh!

Tuesday night, Tea and a few days left.

Today, not a bad day. I went to work, and was somewhat productive. More so than on Monday.

Tonight, I went out with Tara for tea. It was nice to see her. She's really busy with her course, and so it's nice she made time to come out. Again, she came out to see me, which was good.

A few days left? Well, come Friday, the project will be over, and I'll be relaxing for the most part. I'm thinking of going camping, or diving. I'm not sure what I can fandangle.

Oh, and I'm glad that Sean's got a good sense of humour.

Again, short post, as I'm kinda out of things today to talk about.

Chris? Where are you? CD's?

Feelin' like crap, and Takin' care of Business...

First thing: I promise not to type...(TCB), as a few years back (o.k, a lot of years back), apparently it was a big thing to TCB.....As in, writing this and being all cool. Again, I think this fad is from back when guys thought it was cool to wear spandex shorts and t-shirts. Again, I dredge up dark parts of my memory every so often for a good purging.

Anyway, let's start off with this...

Can one be excited but not happy. Well, Jasse sent me an email about it when I first posted, and then yesterday, Sean sent me the same response. Here is Jasse's response:
though it's implied -
if Heather gets excited about me driving too fast - although, one inference is that, if heather is getting excited, she digs me driving fast
in actuality
her emotions are getting stirred, and, I'm about to get an earful . . .
one weak example of excited not necessarily being happy

So, for the most part, it's agreed that you can be excited, but not happy.

And, here's the part that you've been waiting for!!!

Rawl's Top 5 Most embarrassing CD's with a bonus Track...

Each will have a justification...And in no particular order..

And also, a side note: My CD collection is split with Jasse, so I'll try to use only CD's that I bought or acquired. But perusing my CD's, I don't really have that much that I would be embarrassed about, or would say that are bad. Jasse's got some really good tastes, which for the most part, has saved my ass.

1. Madonna - Bedtime Stories
2. Definition of Sound - Love and Life, a Journey with the Chamaleons.
3. Hole - Live Live through This.
4. Club Mix 95 - Various Artists.
5. Mitsou - Tempted
and bonus...
6. Retrograd - a Demo CD.

1. Madonna - I like Madonna, and her older stuff, but this album, had that one song, Human Nature, that I liked, but just not a nice CD to have sitting in the collection.

2. Definition of Sound - Who? They had one big song, if you can call it that....Moira Jane's Cafe, which had an Urban Dance Squad sound (say, Who again?!?) without the edge. Again, hard to explain, and even harder to justify. The whole album was crap.

3. Hole - Again, the one song, Miss World, got stuck in my head for about 2 weeks, thanks to the boneheads I used to work with at LOEB, when I was younger. Because I worked nights, Q107 was on all the time, this song was on rotation, and I had to buy the damn CD to get the song out of my head. Actually, not a bad album.

4. Club Mix 95 - Back in my Heavily influenced dance Days, I bought this CD. Now, it had one kinda promising song, but I was wrong. Just crap that a company had, and wanted to move. Ugh....The only thing worth noting is that....well, no, nothing to note. Just crap.

5. Mitsou - Honestly, I like this CD, and I like Mitsou, but that's just not something one can argue well. Bye Bye, Mon Cowboy? Great song. But, it's rated up there with most embarrassing.

And bonus:

6. Retrograd - Now, if you haven't heard of this band, Thank your lucky stars. They're a 3rd- rate Yanni knock-off with bad guitar solos and whiney singing. The damn singer sounds like a bad Smashing Pumpkins Wannabe. Ugh, I bought this album out of Pity. Now, I pity myself.

So, any comments are welcome.

Chris, the ball is now in your court. You Got Served!

P.S.: Sean, I couldn't help it.

P.P.S: For the masses; Retrograd is Sean's old band. Honestly, they're amazing. I just wanted to see what his reaction would be to this. If you have a chance, check them out in their new form: Kathy's not Here. It's at Sean's site. I don't know if they have songs posted, but their stuff is fantastic. Not Third Rate, not Yanni.

Saturday night, Planet of the Apes, and humidity.

So, I went to a friend's batchelor party. It was partly at the Toronto-Humber Yacht Club, Laff Resort, and the Docks. Quite a good night.

For me, the best part was just hookin' back up with this group of guys I was friends with in University. It was amazing to hang with them. And I'm glad I made back the ties I had with them from back when.

So, all in all, a great time.

What else? Since it's a lazy Sunday, I decided to pop in a DVD I bought a while ago and watch. Planet of the Apes. Again, I quite enjoyed it. Chris will have some problems with this statement, as he's a staunch believer that Charlton Heston is a crappy actor. Crappy? I would say no, but a bit over the top.

However, the question remains.....in P.o.t.A, (Planet of the Apes), was Heston's dialogue written like that, or did he change it to suit him? As some lines were really funny.

And, it's hot as a [person's body part] today, and the humidity is getting to me. ugh.

In repsonse to my earlier posts, about the excited but not happy, Jasse has been the only one to take it up.

I will go by Jasse's response. You cannot be excited, as it implies that you are happy. Case closed...

or is it?

Caribana, Steve Campbell, and Just plain tired...

So, it's official. I'm now on a band for Caribana here in the great city of Toronto. Little does anyone know that my dad was one of the original people who brought Caribana to Canada back in the day.

So, Caribana weekend, come down and see me shake my tailfeather...

And last night, I was out with Steve Campbell. He's kinda bored these days, and trying to find things to do to occupy his time since breaking his wrist and putting a damper on his income, life and diving season. Oh well, such is life, n'est pas?

As well, working and getting like 4 hours sleep a night is starting to take it's toll on me. Ugh...is what I say.

I'm glad it's Friday...and I'm super glad that the project I'm on is not really that thought-provoking, so I'm not having to be really all that alert during the day.

And Trippy's back from BC. That's good. He's informed me that his sister is moving close to him. He was mad a few years ago when he was the only one downtown, and now slowly but surely he's bringing in everybody in.

Neato, is what I say.

Here's a question posed to me....

You can be be happy, and you can be excited. As well, being excited usually means you're happy. Is it possible to be excited but not happy?

One person I've talked to today holds you can. I'm not saying that you can't, but I'm having trouble coming up with some example.

what are your thoughts?

Monday night Woes, and Good-Bye Grandpa Haines.

Well, nothing new and exciting really here. I was on a waiting list for a dive this weekend, but I cancelled because I was supposed to go to a bachelor party. This party got overbooked, and so it was only available to Wedding Party people. So, I got bumped.

In one fell swoop, I lost my plans for the weekend.

Oh well. Friday night, I may be going out with some friends I haven't seen in a while, but we'll see.

Also, Monday night, Chris, Steve and I got together, and were talking about maybe possibly going out to see Sean Talbot out in his condo on the west end. Again, up for grabs.

right now, my schedule got blown out.

oh well.

Side note: I may be in Caribana this year....More info to follow.

On a serious note: Leslie Haines was put to rest approx. 12:00pm today. I know the family doesn't read this, but I was thinking of them all day. I hope things went well.

Dawn of a new Era? We'll see.

Scouting Fishing holes....

Today, was nice and relaxing. I chilled, and did mostly nothing. Chris and I went out in the evening to scout places for us to fish, locally. So far, we're S.O.L.

After, we went for a pint, at a new place, and I was quite pleased, as they had John Smith on tap.

And that's about it.

oh, coming in a few days...

Rawl's Top 5 worst owned CD's...

Sean and Chris are doing this, it'll be interesting.

Cambell's night on the Town...

Last night was the big Cambell Party, along with a guy named Tim's Girlfriend, who's name is Leslie. (I think)...

I was good. We chilled at his place with his room-mate Brett, Steve's brother J.J. (or Jay-Jay...) and a guy name Jason Das. We drank stuff, and kicked out to North Toronto's Biggest Patio, the Safari.

Honestly, it's not that big, but I can see for being North Toronto, and having a big patio, what the draw is. It was good. WE drank there, and then went to a bar called the Alley-Catz.

The Alley-Catz has a live pop band who sing covers of pop songs. It was actually really good. Instead of having a DJ spin old 80s, 90s, and newer stuff, this band played and sang these songs. They were great. Songs like Young MC's Bust-a-Move, Arrested Development's Everyday People, Madonna's Like a Prayer, and lots of old MJ, (Michael Jackson) and Bob Marley.

At the end, Steve started to black out, and we hauled him home. He was drunk and funny, so he just babbled, whined, and went to bed.

All in all, a good evening.

Saturday morn, I chilled, and watched the Discovery Channel and cleaned my 'office'. This afternoon, my dad and I are going to assemble the patio Furniture we have that was put away for the winter. I know, it's pretty late in the season, but hey...Give us a break.

Oh, no laundry for a few days. Our machine broke down, and the new one's comin' Tuesday. Ugh.

What else?

The Chan Summer Jam is on...dates to be announced.

Status Quo?

Things are good. Status quo to be exact. I'm relaxin, and chillin' and it's not too bad.

Tara's Grandfather passed away this morning. It's sad, but the man was 97. He's lived his life, and as I understand, he passes away in his sleep. For me, that would be the best way to go. Some argue that spontaneous combustion would be preferred, but hey...Who am I to argue?

I got an email from my cousin in Ft. Lauderdale. I think he's been reading this, and if you are, Krishna, hey! Check your email! Things are good, for the most part.

My parents are thinking of having a Chan Summer Jam in August with the family and friends. I'm not sure why they're getting in the mood for entertaining, but hey, I think it'll be good. I'll post the date when it gets confirmed. For the most part, if you read this, you'll be invited...

T-Minus 2 day for Steve's Birthday Party. 'nuff said.

bleh, that's really about it for now....

Last note: SEAN WILSON is MIA. Last response - June 29th. Where art thou Sean?

Nuthin' new...

I feel bad. There's not much to say these days. I'm working, and relaxing.

What's cool, is that I ran into a friend named Scott Thibideau. It's kinda cool seeing him again.

I'm on a 'Car' kick, kinda. I'm convinced that I can learn to fix my own car. I've got the tools, and a manual, now I've got to sit down and figure out how to do some stuff. Exciting, yes.

I went out with Tara tonight to Chapters. It was o.k. She doesn't like going shopping with me, as I look at stuff to see what I want to get. I was looking for some books pretty leisurely, and she thought she was running away from her.

I feel kinda bad, as I'm kinda tired, and I didn't say much to her tonight. It's hard to convince someone you're not mad but just tired, and actually have nothing really to say. Oh well, such is life.

I just have to be careful.

Diving, Working, chilling, and Stuff.

I got back Saturday evening from Diving, and it was great. I did some drift dives, which you just float along with a current and some wreck dives, to see old boats that sunk. It was really fun.

Sunday, I spent washing my car, and trying to clean the winter's worth of grime and stuff off. After about 3 hours, It's finally nice and shiny.

What else? I started a new project at work, which is a bit on the confidential side, so I can't really divulge what it's about. It's pretty cool, but that's all I can say.

So, those of you who are avid readers, I apologize for the wait with my posts. I tried to post yesterday, but I couldn't log on. For some reason, it wouldn't go through. I tried all night.

More later, as I'm a bit tired, and I want to relax for a bit.
