It's been a long time, it's been a long time...
Where have I been for a few days? Well, busy, as per usual.
So, Wednesday night was a staff meeting. Was it good? I'm unsure.
Thursday night was a staff social. Was it good? Unsure. Food was good. I showed up late, and had to leave early, as I was meeting Linda for a coffee. So, Thursday was good.
Friday night, Chris and I went to Steve Campbell's new apartment to help them celebrate their new place. It was nice. Chris and I decided to try a new beverage that night, and I didn't mind it. Chris seemed to enjoy it up until the next day. It was called "Red Maple". Beer made with Maple Syrup from Sudbury. You could taste the Maple, which was good. However, in a beer, sugar is not a good thing.
Saturday, I just relaxed, and got ready for Laurence's Halloween Party. Linda was busy getting ready, and her friend Melissa as well.
So, I picked up the two girls, and we went to the party. Last year was fantastic. The party was amazing, and the people were really cool. We arrive, and they're playing a movie on Laurence's Bigger-than-big T.V. Mind you, it's a beautiful TV, and I wouldn't mind having it in my house, but at a party, when it's pretty much one wall, you kinda sit and stare. And Laurence had on Friday the 13th, Pt.1 and 2. So we pretty much sat and watched it.
Chris was very quiet, as he was still nursing a hang-over (I suspect). Linda and Melissa were enjoying the 80's slasher flicks, and I was hopping up and down chattin' with some people. All in all, an interesting evening.
Which leads us to today.
Um, went to the gym. I bought a new watch and phone. And then I came home. Right now, I'm just contemplating on if I should shave my head today, or sometime this week.
I think I will.

I think I made a breakthrough.
So, Tuesday was o.k. Nothing too exciting. Again, I always have the urge to post even if there's nothing really to report.
I think the Pickerville Co-op will be commencing soon. Jasse's gotta register, and I've invited his friend Rick. Rick's a great guy who I think will give an interesting spin on things.
And the breakthrough? First, the history: I've been hitting the gym hard, just to try an experiment. Well, not really an experiment, but to test what experts always have said. I've been hitting the Cardio pretty hard for a few weeks now. I started off with easy walks, then to light jogs, and then to trying distance. Last night, I found that I could do distance runs longer and faster without having my heart-rate shoot up to dangerous levels, and my recovery rate was a lot faster. I was quite pleased.
I'm actually quite stoaked about it. Where I work, there's a distance runner. I think I'll ask him about how to improve endurance. Why? Again, I would love to try running a marathon one day. Not like anytime soon, or next year, but sometime.
Oh, the Piper was heard, and the reviews are coming. Who'll be lead to water? Hopefully, not me!

A new Project?
Sean and I were chatting on his new 'tag-board' and we came up with having a 'co-operative' blog site, in which we can all discuss issues. It'll be interesting, as we can keep the commentaries running on this site.
Sean's got it up and running, and I've invited Jasse and Chris to join. Hopefully in a few days, we can get this lil' project running.
The site will be The Pickerville Co-op. However, we may change the name...
maybe "P-City Blues" ?
Oh, the Pied Piper should have played his song, but I won't find out the reviews until a few days from now.

Fast foods, Sleep, and just lots of rain.
Last night Linda and I rented 'Supersize Me'. It was quite good. It's a bit disturbing at what this guy went through to show the world the effects of fast-foods on the body. It's really amazing that we've allowed ourselves this poison to invade our society and wreak havoc on the unsuspecting.
I'll get off my soapbox now...
But seriously, quite an eye-opener. The extras on the DVD were cool too, as they interviewed the guy who wrote "Fast food Nation" and that was one of the best parts of the movie.
Then, Sunday, I was tired, so I was nappy all day, so that was part of my lazy Sunday. And I went to the gym, and that was o.k.
Just rain, rain, rain. And it's getting cold. Well, just damp.
And this evening, I was at Chris' for Game night. 'twos fun, as we didn't quote the Simpsons (well, once, but it was near the end of the game). Why is this important? Well, we've realized that our chatter is sometimes detrimental to the game, so we've tried to police ourselves in terms of staying on topic. So far, it's working.
This week should prove to be interesting. This Monday, I think the Piper plays his song, finally. What's the throwback? We'll see. I'm hoping that I can explain these mysterious and often curious metaphors soon. I'm sure some of you are wondering what the hell the devil and the holy man with his bible have to do with the Pied Piper?
Again, the bell tolls for thee.

Tea, Surprises, and stuff
Last night, Chris and I went to see Steve C. and his new girlfriend. She's a grade 4 teacher with the Peel board, and she seems pretty cool. Steve seems happy.
It was fun, and during the night, Brad Mike called me from New Zealand to say hi. 'twas good...
And today, I went to the gym, worked out my back, and came home. My neighbor who's a diver told me that today is the major Blow-out sale at Innerspace in Pickering, so I went down, and bought some stuff.
I came home with a Buoyancy Compensator Device (BCD), a wet-suit, hood and gloves. I'm quite happy with these purchases, and I can't wait to try 'em out next season.
I didn't get to go as much this year as I planned, as somethings came up near the end of the summer, but hey...such is life.
Oh, here's a question for Jasse and Chris. Sean and I were talking about having a 'co-operative' blog in which we discuss topics. Would you guys be interested? It'll be like our own little 'sound-off' kinda thing.
Let me know. And if anyone else reading this would be interested, contact Sean or myself, and we'll get one started.
Tonight, I'm out rolling money from the Terry Fox Fundraising. I've convinced Linda to help me, which is nice. I think it may have cost me a dinner, but hey...not bad.

Friday, tea, and pleasant surprises.
So, not a bad day, all in all. I'm enjoying my new 'do very much. Thanks for all who support it. And I'm thinking of bic-ing my head. Will I do it? I have to consult some friends first, to find out the procedure and the length between shaves.
What else? A Halloween-party we will go. What will I dress up as? Not sure.
And tonight, Chris and I went to visit Steve C. and meet his new girlfriend. She's pretty cool. Her name is Leticia. She's a teacher in the Peel board, and she teaches grade 4. Steve seemed a bit nervous, but that was cool.
Oh, here's a question for Jasse and Chris: Would you guys be up for a 'co-operative blog' in which we post questions, and have different answers to see different points of view? Almost a virtual 'dialogue' thing? Sean and I were discussing that once.
Let me know if you're up. If not, I think Sean and I may do it.

I think I like it.
I'm kind diggin' the no-hair. Will I be one of theose guys who shaves his head? I think so.
I just need to find a cool touque to wear. Damn, it's cold!
Oh, if you get a chance, Sean has put up a question voting poll thing. And this week's question is pretty good...
Click on Sean's blog, and look on the right of his blog.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow!
That's what the signs on the walls say. Yeah, Thursday Oct. 21st, at approx. 9:00am,
I'll be shaving my head for Terry Fox.
Alas, I'll admit. I'm a bit nervous. Bye-bye hair..for now.
Again, a fantastic foundation, with only the best in mind.
What else? I went to a workshop, where it was pretty much a waste of time. But after, I met Linda, and we watched the Greatest Canadian. It was for Wayne Gretsky. The only good thing (other than Wayne) was that my friend, Scott and his son, Jeff were on as a cameo. It was pretty cool.
It's funny. I've come up with a good analogy of what's going on in my life at the moment. I'll first send out apologies to those who are offended if I did.
I feel like a Holy man in an unholy land; thumbing through my bible, looking to the good book for protection, the devil appears, all calm and knowing. "Hey, y'know that the book you're holding is not really a rule-book. They're just guidelines. You can do anything you want. Nobody's holding you to it"
"But then, what do I do if I go against it?"
"Nuthing. They can't do nuthin' for you. I can help. You wanna be great. Follow me. Stop doing what you're doing. You're only hurting yourself. "
Very befitting.

The calm before the Storm
That's what feels like. This is the part of things that scare me. Oh well. Let's just say, I'll face the world with new vigour.
And where I work, we raised more money than we did last year for Terry Fox. I said that if we beat the goal, I'll shave my head.
So, tomorrow morn, I'll be shaving my head.

I'm not afraid.
That's all I can say at this point. I've reached a place in my life where I'm not about to give up my principles for something.
I've kinda started to play hardball, which will be cool.
I'll be even more cryptic about this topic.

Come to the Dark Side.
So, interesting day. Let's say that there was knife, some threats, and maybe some action. It's amazing how life parallels itself. Sometimes in the most ironic way. I wish I could say more, but like my wimpy self, I'll refrain for now.
The question of the day is : if you're faced with compromising your principles to attain your future goals, do you?
I was posed this question today, and I had to think about my future.
I felt is as a threat to my future.
My answer. No, I won't. However, I'm arrogant enough to want my cake and eat it too. That would be my answer.
Oh, nobody pulled knife on me. Don't worry.
Oh yeah, one more thing. I'm thinking of playing Hardball in the future. I'll keep you informed.

The Count of Monte Cristo
I just got back from seeing the Count of Monte Cristo with My brother, Heather and my dad. Jasse and I read the book, so we were expecting something comparable. Heather heard about it from Jasse, and I just said nothing to my dad to see what he thought of it.
Now, the movie was an adaptation of the book, and I'm not sure where this adaptation came from....The movie, or somewhere else.
It was....o.k. I think I was expecting to see Alexandre Dumas' book portrayed with deadly accuracy and amazing effects, but I was wrong. The version I saw was a watered down idea of the book. Jasse and I kept looking at each other when parts that were not from the book appeared. Our exact words were "Damn" and "Crap"
However, all was not lost. We were flipping through the programme book given to us (not as graciously as previous Stratford experiences) and we found "The author's Apologia". The playwright wrote a huge expose on his apology to those who read the book. He put it best by this quote;
In the play and movie, Edmund Dantes had a child out of wedlock with his girlfriend, soon-to-be fiance. In the book, no child.
Again, for the masses, good. For the movie fans, pretty good. For the book fans, mediocre.
Don't get me wrong. The acting was amazing, the sets and costumes and effects were incredible, and the music was fantastic. The actors can only do what they can with what they are given. And in my opinion, they were not given much.
All in all, Good. I still like Stratford.

Change of plans are good.
So, Last night, I went out with Chris for a drink. We ended up at a bar near his place, and it was nice. At about 9:30, two guys set up and started to play. Surprisingly, it was really good. They did covers with a sped-up rock feel. And the covers were interesting. Red, Red Wine; Play that Funky Music, D'yer Maker and some others that are not usual for a band to cover (especially with two guitars and a click track).
During the set, Alex called me to cancel on St. Catherines today. He was called to work, and so he opted to work. I don't blame him. For me, it opens my Saturday, which I can get some work done. I wanted to go to the gym as well, so now, I'm free!
Then when I got home, Linda called. She had quite the experience on Friday. Somehow, her back went out, and she couldn't move. She had no option but to call the ambulance to take her to the hospital and get it checked out. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but she told me she'll be doing no strenuous things for 3 weeks to make sure her back is normal, and she has to watch what she does from now on.
So, she's not going to look at rocks on Saturday, but I'm trying to convince her that sitting in a car to go to Stratford is not strenuous at all, but good for her back. My car has bucket seats, and it can recline.
No dice. Oh well, I tried.
So, I'm just going to relax, do some work, and kick to the gym. Tonight? No clue. Stay tuned.

You should be Gracious....
Argh!
That's my only real comment about today. Well, specifically only about 30 minutes of today.
The real question comes from this; If someone gives you something you don't want, and even stated for the record that you don't want it, still gives it to you, and then later demands some kind of payback or retribution, do you owe them?
That's the problem I face at work. I was given something I didn't want, and made it clear, and now I'm expected to pay back for what was given, even though I didn't want it. And the way it got spun was that I'm the ungrateful one for even accepting it (Mind you, I didn't have a choice), and now I'm being held accountable.
And, to add insult to injury, peep this: My colleague and I noticed a mistake and talked to our boss about an 'oversight'. We were hoping that it would be cleared up without a problem, and we can all go on with our lives. Nope. When the solution came down, we were the one to get nailed with the blame.
Ah, things were going too smooth, I thought. Silly me. Tricks are for kids.

I'm not Cyber-slacking.
I love workshops. I'll leave it at that. And I'm not cyber-slacking, as I'm not doing something I'm not supposed to do.
I am, in fact, blogging at home.

Back to the Grind...After only one day?!?
'Twas a good day, however somewhat trying at points. The only good thing is that I'm being shipped off to do a workshop for my professional Development tomorrow. That'll be nice. I can get out for a bit, and chat with other colleagues about stuff. Or, just complain and whine about normal Canadian stuff.
So, at the gym, the guy I sometimes chat with, we had a good talk. He asked me about how I do some exercises, and I showed him. I know it sounds a bit...Happy...But I think he was just trying to be more efficient at the gym.
What else? Nothing really. I'm going to go see the Count of Monte Cristo this weekend with Jasse and Heather. However, I may have a 2nd ticket available. I've got to find someone. Again, we'll see.
Linda's got scooped to do a trip from her class, so she's out. However, I'm hoping that the planets will align, and something will work out, and she can come.
However, my luck? No Dice.

No Dice.

Zen and the Art of Turkey Eating
I didn't really do much today. Relaxed. Linda came over to pick something up, and hung out for a bit. Then, I went over to my cousin Dale's place and had some Turkey.
Turkey's good.
Relaxation is good.
'nuff said.

Turkey, family, friends, and the Betty Ford Clinic
Saturday was quite busy. During the day, we had our family thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. Nothing too exciting, but Turkey was good, and I'm a bit angry that it's all gone.
My family is usually pretty good at making lots of food, as we have left-overs for a few days. I think we're gonna be done all the food by tomorrow. Bleh.
Then, later, Steve Little and I kicked out to see Brad downtown. We were joined by Sean and Krissy. It was fun. Lots of cavorting, and other things that are akin to a Saturday night. Sean and Krissy left early, so Steve, brad and I went to Betty's to enjoy the night.
As promised, I ended up the night falling asleep on brad's chair at 4:00am. Steve fell asleep at 6:00am.
What's funny was this. During the night, Krissy left her purse at Brad's. Sean had called me to bring it back to Pickering on Sunday.
So, Sunday morn, Steve and I drag ourselves out at 7:30, and go to Timmy's for a coffee and bagel. Since I had to bring the purse home, I had to carry it. Here I am walking into Tim Horton's, Sunday morning at 7:45am with a Purse. I felt a bit silly, but I asked Steve to see if we get any funny looks.
To show how great Toronto is, nobody batted an eyelash. I didn't know if looked normal, or nobody cared, or nobody noticed. If it looked normal, I think I may take offence to that.
Oh, on another note, I think I may have started another poor soul on the path of Blogging.

I think I spoke too soon...
So, last week, I was complaining about a group of people who went to bed early on Friday.
Lo and behold, I started to pass out last night around 8:20. I was just chillin', getting ready to go out with Dave, and then I kinda nodded off.
Jasse awoke me with a phone call to make fun of me, but hey, it's part of the fun.
My excuse? Terry Fox run, setting up the sound system, and then basically running for like 2 hours.
Tonight, I'll make up for it.
Promise.

Terry Fox, Maximum Mix, and a lil' iBook.
Just a few moments before everything goes to hell in a handbasket. At most workplaces, fridays are pretty nutty. Especially the friday before a long weekend.
This morning was the Terry Fox run. It was quite fun. I got to DJ the run. Again, me and lil' iBook.
Man, technology has come far. I can haul an entire library of music, and mix it right on my computer.

Where you been at?
So, it's been two days....What's up wit' dat?
Ok, last night, Linda and I went to a hip-hop open mic night. It was pretty good. In terms of open mics, I'm happy to see something than bad folk music, and whiney long-haired dorks singing about what they lost. Instead, it was dread-locked nappy guys freestlylin' about losin' their mamma's or crazy acapella groups singing about Jesus. Just amazing. I can totally dig open mics like that.
Today, just the same, for the most part. Tomorrow, I'm hosting (or running, depending upon how you want to put it) a Terry Fox Run. Yes, I know it already happened, but you can really have it anytime. Canada does it like the 3rd weekend of September. I do it after.
Anyway, the story goes like this. I'm going to have some music playing, and I found a cool 'mixing' programme for my Mac, so I'm going to try DJing live tomorrow. I'll let you know how that goes.
This weekend, it's Thanksgiving. Jasse and Angeli are coming. Heather, unfortunately is working, so she can't make it. And some other members of the Chan clan are coming, which should be fun.
Friday? yeah, Can't wait.

Old friends, and stealing time during the day.
I got an email from an old friend from Taiwan. His name is Brian Kelley. He was this really tall Texan who's heart was as big as his shoes. And this boy had some big shoes, lemme tell you.
But it was nice to hear from him. He's doing his Masters in Economics in Texas, and seeming to have fun. It's nice to hear that some of my friends from Taiwan are doing well. For the most part, it seems that the people who go to Taiwan, get lost in that lifestyle, and never leave it. Steve and I hold that there are external factors at play for those who go different countries, and act like kings.
And yes, I'm taking some time during the day.
Yes, I'm feeling fabulous. I love the sideburns on that guy.

Secretary of Defence and chancellor of the Evil Itinerary Guard
Thanks Lord Sean. I don't know what else to say? An evil tear comes to my evil eye. (sniff, sniff).
And on with the show....
It's strange where you meet people. And it's strange what a few words said means to someone.
So, there are two stories here. First one about the strange people you meet in strange places. Well, it's not really strange per se, but just a bit...um, weird.
At the gym, for the most part, nobody talks to anyone. You exchange glances, you politely wait for machines, weights, benches, etc. And you only really talk when you want to know if someone is done with some equipment. For the most part...Well, Every time, people have been really cool. Nobody is a jerk, and it's actually quite a calm, and relaxing environment.
So, when I first got back to the gym, I was looking for a some weights, and a guy started chatting with me, about when are busy times and when are slow times. I told him what I thought were busy and when are good, based upon my experiences, and we chatted about stuff for about 10 minutes after that.
Today, I ran into him again, and we just chatted as well. Nice guy, but just a weird place to just strike up conversation. His name was Tom, and he seems pretty cool.
Second story - So, after I work out, I go up to the Cardio Room, and hit the treadmill for about 30 minutes. I usually first go to the chage room to get my iPod, so I have some tunes to listen to.
In the change room, I run into one of the people from Rich's party from Friday night. We exchanged some pleasentries and he asked "how did you like Friday?" I told him that it was fun, but I was a bit disappointed. He asked why, and I told him that at 10:30, everybody went home.
He said that people were up at 5:30-6:00am that morning, so it's o.k. I told him I get up that time too so that's not an excuse. Then he told me that Logan goes to bed early. My retort was that Logan goes to bed early no matter what. After that, he didn't seem to happy with me.
Again, is it me? Or the people that are around me?

Just a few minutes
It's the morning, and I feel a bit bad for not reporting back more.
So, last night I hooked up with the boys. Topic of conversation? Many many things. People we knew, things we've done, and what's even quite entertaining, books we've read.
Tom's on this Judaism-kick, to find out more about Judaism. There were some interesting things he found out, and other things not so interesting.
As I've said, Steve has got a new woman, so Good for him.
And what else? Yeah, I got home, and talked until quite late, and then, as normal for me, I wanted to read before I went to bed, so I didn't end up going to bed until a lot later.
Will I pay for it today? Yep. Do I care? Nope.
I'm even planning on going to the gym tonight.
I think my new 'lifestyle' change is working. I'm quite content with it, and I'm sticking to it. Mind you, it's only really 4 weeks, but I'm quite happy.
I didn't think cutting sugar out of your diet would be that easy.
Speaking of the devil. My boss just announced that there are treats. She enjoys getting Krispy Kreme.
Again, Stay the path.

Coffee, tea, and some good friends.
Tonight, Chris and I went down (or up?) to see Steve and Tom. Tom's getting married to his girlfriend (I hope!!!) this December.
'Twas a fun night. I'm going to be a bit vague, and quick right now, as its late, and I kinda want to kick to bed.
Good news? Steve and the girl he's been chatting with, are somewhat of an item. Which item is that, remains to be seen. I'm glad for Steve, as he's got something, and now he can not complain about not having anything.
What else? Linda regaled me with stories of Bon Echo and camping in the cold with people who don't know how to camp. What's funny, is that an experience like that would put off some camping neophytes. Which, in my mind is unfortunate.
Her trip was all about geology, and rocks and stuff. And me, I couldn't help but make the Geology jokes like "Geology Rocks! or, You got Rocked! or, Rock on!"
Yeah, the puns keep on comin'.
Oh, maybe to be official? My official pun name: The PUNisher.
It's mine. Nobody else's.

It's a Lawless world.
O.k, I thought I had Laurence's website. Apparently I don't anymore. When I do get it, I'll post it, and I'll make a link to it, and you can read all the nasty things he writes about blogs. However nasty, he's mostly right.
Today? Nuthin' really. I borrowed "I, Robot" from Brad (a ripped DVD) so I'm going to watch that tonight. I like Isaac Asimov, so hopefully I'm happy with this. But then again, I' ve always said to the chagrin of many people, "Will Smith can do no wrong". I hold to that tenet.

Saturday Night, Live?!?
Well, tonight was the season premier of SNL. Did I watch it? Nope. Chris and I went downtown to see Brad, and catch an amateur Night Comedy show. Quite ironic, since we talked to some guy about this subject just the other night.
Was it good? Well...er...ah....yeah, sure.
We ran into a good friend from back in the day named Scott Henderson. He was (or is) an actor, but because of MS, he's been off work, and trying to break into the Voice-over gigs. He's a really funny guy, and we got him to go up, and he was much more funnier than most of the comics there.
Now, not saying the comics were awful, but they needed some help. Now, being a comic critic, it's easy to sit back and say this or that. To be up there, that's a different talent, and I have to applaud them for doing such.
What was cool was that the last comic was a professional, who've I seen on TV. I remember actually laughing out loud when I watched her. And when you are alone, and you find something that funny, that means it funny. I even remember calling people to turn to this channel, because she was so funny.
Was she funny tonight? Nope.
Oh, as a side note; Laurence Cummer (yes, that's his name...) a.k.a. "The Law" has begrudgingly started a blog, to which he has commented on how blogs work.
I totally agree.
His website is located in my Links section on the left. Check it out sometimes.

I'm not getting old, it's the people around me...
Last night, I went to that surprise birthday party. Thoughts? Well, I met some interesting people, and got to hang out with some people I don't normally see. So, that was good.
Chris and Jacquie were there, along with Logan. Then after that, the only people I knew were Rich (birthday boy) and his wife, Christine.
Topics of conversation? Well, Chris and I were chatting with one of Christine's friend's brother's. Is the apostrophe in the right place? I think so...
Anyway, this guy is in college for Comedy. Yes, Comedy. His classes include Sketch writing, acting, improv, stand up and something else I can't remember.
I don't want to say how cool that would be to do, but it would be fun to actually do a course like that. Mind you, I wouldn't want that to be my only post-secondary education, but what a blast that would be.
Keeping going, the night was ok. There was a questionnaire to fill out about Rich, which I found really funny, as I've known him the least amount of time. I basically made up absurd answers, and said to hell with it. One question was about his middle name. My response; I don't even know his last name.
So, all in all, things were o.k. At approx 10:15, people started to ask for their bills, and to get ready to go home.
I was a bit shocked, as it was a Friday night, and only 10:15. I inquired about this oversight to which I was greeted with "Yeah, so? It's late!"
"It's Friday night!"
"Yeah, So. I'm usually in bed by 10."
"It's Friday Night!"
Again, my witty retort went unfazed, and the group all went home.
Chris, who was not part of this group graciously offered to return back to his place, for a few more drinks, but I knew that if I did, I'll just pass out.
I as well, went home, and read. I was kinda set of by that.
What I found interesting, was that the group I was with, were all a few years younger than me. Go figure.

It must be a full moon.
Well, that's all I can say right now. Holy smokes. Putting out fires all day, and it's still not over. I've somehow managed to fandangle a few minutes.
Tonight, I have a surprise birthday party to go. I will stay quiet to whom it is, or where it is, but I don't think he reads this. Owe, a guy named Rich, that I've gone fishing with before.
I want to go to the gym first, but I don't know if I'll get the chance. We'll see.
And Linda's on her way (or should be there) to Bon Echo, drawing rocks. Hee hee hee...
It's supposed to get cold this weekend.
