Work, and some Dragon' Boating...

So, today's been pretty relaxed...I helped my dad with some chores, and now I'm about to head out to do some of my own errands.

I want to go check out some electronics store which as some crazy deals, and then to Canadian Tire to get some keys cut, and finally to the store where I got my suit. Since I've been more healthy, my suit doesn't fit me anymore. I dropped in to see the sales guy who sold it to me, and he said that we could maybe fix it. I'm hoping he's in, as I want to get some new clothes for work.

And speaking of which, Linda's in North Bay now. She's doing her first real day of school today, so that should be exciting. She called me last night to tell me that her first day (or minus one day...) was good. Today's where she meets her section, gets her books and hopefully her laptop.

She seems pretty excited.

And me? Last night I hooked up with Chris, Steve C, and Jason Das. It was a good night of a few pints and just general hanging out. Steve's been ultra-busy with moving out of his apartment and in with Jen. He told me about the 'riot' act his dad read to him, which was more of a 'biblical commandment sent by Moses' deal. I can totally understand his dad and what he said, as apparently Steve made a Vow when he was child to not 'live in sin'. Now, as I told Steve last night, can a child make that vow, and expect to uphold it? C'mon? A kid with no hormones would whole-heartily make a vow to not do that, since 'Girls are icky'. But would a 15 year old boy (or older) ever make that vow? I'm not saying that no one would, but I can see not many people not doing that.

Again, my two cents, for what it's worth...

And tonight? Dragon boatin' with a new crew. Should be fun! I'm looking forward to it!

And Here we go again...

Before I get onto the real rant of this blog, I just wanted to recap on the weekend's events...

It was quite good. Linda and I went to the Mongolian Grill with 2 of her friends for her 'birthday luncheon'. Food was fantastic. After that, we headed up to her cottage, but taking a detour to Lindsey to visit one of her friends.

Unfortunately her friend wasn't there, so we continued onto her cottage. It was amazing.

Sunday was a relaxing day. We got up, and watched the rest of Dawson's Creek, Season 3. After, we went swimming, and decided to go sailing. Linda's got a small Sailing Tub, which was loads of fun. We sailed for a bit, got stuck, and then got unstuck, and sailed back. Just amazing. I want to learn how to sail!

We got back Sunday evening, and relaxed, as Monday was the day for us to both get things done. Linda finished her packing, and I got things ready for work.

Which comes to my title...

As per usual, my boss decides to start messing things up because she's just like that. I even caught her lying to me, which I should have pursued, but she knew I had her. Un-freakin'-real.

So, Where do I go from here? Not sure. I'll post more vague things later.

Droppin' a quick Note...

I'm gonna be out for the rest of the weekend. I'm headin out to Linda's and then we're gonna do some fun stuff...

Why?

Happy Birthday Linda ! ! !

Tonight, dinner at a cool restaurant, tomorrow, brunch at a just as interesting locale, and then kickin' out to her cottage for some relaxin' time...Ending the summer.

For me? Updates? nuthin'. Jasse's diggin' his job, Dad's doing fine. Mom called this morning, and she's ok. My dad talked to her, and she's ready to come back, not because she's tired, but because of the roads and inconvenience of where she's staying. I can totally see that.

Oh well. Apparently, Uncle Tombol (the one who's sick) is fine. He's walking and stuff...

Walking? What do you mean? Well, the story goes that he had Diabetes and he didn't take care of himself. Some complications arose, and a vein in his leg burst. They had no other option than to amputate.

And when I say walking, he's up and about. Which is a good thing. He only lost the leg this past Friday.

Jeepers, I say.

Suck it up!

So, what did I do today? Errands for my mom, and then met up with the Master, Scott Woodland for a pint.

Also, Scott wanted his wife to check out the new ride, as he's interested in the Vibe. Excellent choice, I say.

I also met up with Chris for lunch, which was nice, as since the summer's started, we've hardly had the chance to hang out and chat. Our emails to each other have been almost stopped since I am less on the computer than during the year. Go figure.

I'm a bit jumpy on this post, for no other reason than poor planning. I wanted to also say that have to do an Airport run tomorrow morn, which is in a few hours to take my mom. She'll be gone for 3 weeks, which isn't bad. Last time, my dad was gone for about 7 weeks, which was a bit insane.

Anything new? Not really. I'm gonna take Linda out for dinner and lunch on Friday, as it's her birthday, and then go to her cottage this weekend. She'll be moving to North bay on Monday or Tuesday, so her time is short here. Again, this is really so her friends can know what she's doing. It's funny that this is how people find out about her...

and Jasse, he's started his new gig at Deloitte and Touche. He's pretty excited, so I'm glad. He doesn't hate life, which is always a plus in a job.

And pretty much that's it. Talking to Scott tonight, was good, as I miss chatting with him. It'll be tough come September, but he's said he's willing to meet for lunch and drinks after work. Again, it may be one of the few things keeping me going come this September.

Am I kinda alone this year? For some reason, I say yes...

Although there are new things in my life, I've temporarily lost some as well. The good thing is that they'll be back. Linda's gone to North Bay (for part of the year), and Scott's gone for the year, and a few other characters have left.

Am I getting melancholic? Maybe. It happens at this time of year.

Words from a wise friend: Suck it up. Deal with it!

Just another day...

So, today was just me relaxing, and doing some errands for my mom to get ready for Trinidad.

But let's do a bit of a recap of my trip...

From my last entry about the Thunder Bay Trip, I was in North bay, helping Linda look for a place. She did find a nice little basement apartment that is fully furnished.

From there, we went to Samuel De Champlain Provincial Park and spent the night. It was a nice little site, and a cool place. They had a Voyager Center about the Voyagers, which was o.k.

From there, we drove to The muskokas to see Vicki and Steve. The drive was through the northern part of that Tornado, so it was a bit heavy. We did make it up in time, and chilled at the cottage, until Ji-Hye and Brad showed up.

From there, Bizarro weekend occurred.

Steve and I went to Perry Sound to visit the Coast Guard Open house, which was really cool. We got to walk through all the big Coast Guard boats and talk to the personnel. For the most part, they were all really cool. Some of the Coast Guards were a bit awkward, but answered our questions.

What else? Let's get back to today....

I'm in the middle of a really cool book called "Future Eden". It's going really well. What's funny is that last year at this time, I was really into my PS2. This year, I'm really into my book.

Back from the North...

So, Linda and I ended our trip at Steve's cottage. Lots of fun, but it was kinda bizarro. Now, by this term, I mean that we were actually pretty mature, and normal.

Usually these weekends are full of lots of drinking, and not much else. We were good.

I'll maybe post some pics, but I'm gonna take my time.

Just to mention, my uncle in Trinidad got sick, so I had to rush back to help my mom take care of some stuff...

Oh, Northern Ontario is beautiful. Please go.

more later.

Notes from the North...

Jeepers! It's been a few days since I last blogged. I'm in North Bay with Linda. We're looking for a place for her to stay here, as she was on the waiting list for residence.

Just a recap of the trip:

Saturday: Near Thunder Bay : Lake Superior Provincial Park
Just amazing. I recommend it. Long drive, but amazing. It's so intensely serene and picturesque here.

Sunday: Sleeping Giant Provincial Park: We saw the giant sleeping. Again, huge camp sites, and just insanely beautiful.

Monday: Sleeping Giant Again - WE did a boat tour, and chilled.

Tuesday : Kettle Lake Provincial Park, near Timmins - We went to see the Shania Twain Museum, and a gold mine! Yee Haw. Man, I feel like a tourist.

Wednesday : Marten River Prov. Park - Near North bay, nice but the most ghetto of the sites we've been on this trip. Now, don't get me wrong, it still kicks a$$ compared to places near home, but not as nice as the Near North/ Northern Campsites.

Thursday : Tonight, we're gonna chillin North bay, and make it to Samuel De Champlain Provincial Park!

More later.

Jasse Has a Girl...

The big news was that Jasse and Heather had another Daughter. Elisabeth Sylvia Chan. As for pictures, they're coming in the next few days.

What else? Linda and I are going camping on Saturday up to Thunder Bay, and then on our way back, we're going to the Muskoka's to visit ol' Steve Little and company.

that's about it. I will be off blogger for another few days to a week. If I come across an internet cafe in Thunder bay, I'll stop off and regale everyone with some stories, but until then, this will be it until then.

What else? I am glad things are going well this summer. Last summer was a bit of a slump, so I figure I was due for something fun.

What's been new for the Chan family? New Roof (house), new eyes (me), new job (Jasse), new baby (Jasse), new car (me) and new TV (Mom and dad). Phew! Enough new things.

New TV?!? What in Blazes do you mean? Well, about a week ago, our Trinitron kinda kicked the bucket. The tube just gave up, and gave us only sound. So, the TV's pretty much fried. My dad and I went shopping for new TV's, and the one he got was back-ordered for a few weeks, so he jumped it since it was a good deal. It should be coming this week when I'm away, which should be interesting.

And the Roof was replaced when Linda and I went camping up in Craigleith, near Collingwood.

And Roger! Welcome back.

Steve C. : I'll call you when I get back.

Alex: Hang in, brother, all good.

Ben: How's the States?

Brad: that ben is non Rumpy-Pumpy, but another ben....and I'll see you on Friday.

Jen: Takin' care of Steve?

Mel, Sam, Sarah: howdy...It's kinda neat you find out what Linda's doing only when you read this... Drop by anytime!

Everybody Else: Summer's still long!!!

it's done...and I pick her up today...

So, I've purchased, well...leased a new vehicle. I've decided to take the plunge, and choose a side. I'm an now (well, soon to be..) part owner (as it's leased) of a brand spankin' new 2005 Black Pontiac Vibe.

Yeah, I took the dealer incentives and the recent Grad discount, and decided to go this route. My other option was a Chevrolet Cobalt SS. It would have been the most similar to the now defunct Cavalier z-24 line.

So, I'm not quite Sport Ute, but not quite old guy, but a little in between. I can go camping easier, do diving, and other stuff. And since it's new, I don't have to worry (for the most part) about anything on the vehicle for the next 4 years.

Yeah, it's a 4 year lease. Who knows, in 4 years, (knock on wood) that blogger is still on, and this blog is that old, I'll be bothering you will these awful details again.

What else? And today's a really good day...

I'll let Jasse post first, and link to his site when he does. It's only fair.

Whoa! What a weekend!

Really? Not so. I had a nice and chill weekend at Linda's cottage. We got there Friday night just shy of midnight, and then we went to bed. In the morning, on Saturday, we went to Bancroft to check out the town.

I wanted to find some cool used books, but it did not happen. On the way, we past a Norco Tent sale, and we stopped in. Linda saw a bike she fell in love with, so we got it. So, currently, Linda's got a nice new shiny bike and she's thrilled.

Saturday night, we relaxed, and watched Dawson's Creek. Then, on Sunday, same thing.

Returning to the city, to nothing really in particular. I'm still on the hunt for a vehicle, and I've got it boiled down to 2 different ones. Again, nothing on the name nor anything.

And Jasse finally resigned his post, and his boss let him walk. Currently, he's 'unemployed and happy', as he put it.

Tonight, I was supposed to meet Scott Woodland for a drink, but like me, he's enjoying his summer. In fact, he's on a sabbatical, so he's really enjoying his time off.

I wish I had something interesting to say, but nope. nuthin.

2nd time out...

So, I was going to purchase a new used car this week, but my hopes and dreams were shattered. I saw the exact car I was looking for, for an amazing price. I went to the dealership with full intentions of buying, but lo and behold, it was sold 10 minutes before I got there.

This is the 2nd time I've come really close to purchasing this car, which shall remain nameless. I think it's the universe telling me that I am not destined to own this car yet, or ever.

So, I'm looking at another car, maybe a brand new car, in a line that I was not entirely convinced until I went to look at them. Again, who knows?

What else? Summer's almost over, and I've yet to reconfigure my blog. I've seen that Sean's got all fancy-shmacy with his, so that's cool.

Oh, And Jasse got his new job he's been going after. I'm glad. He'll be an Energy Consultant for Deloitte and Touche. I think that's really fantastic, as he'll be doing what he wants, not what he's doing now. But, I have to admit, his title when he was at Union really was the best; Gas management specialist. I always giggled at that title.

Deep Thought of the day: Who Likes Short shorts? We like Short shorts..

ok, crappy thought. It's hot.

...in the P-City.

So, am I finally grounded? Maybe, for a few days. I've been doing some 'housecleaning' so to speak. I have some bills to take care of, some business to attend to, and some laundry to do. I'll be home this week, but the week is already filling up.

So, from the posts, Ottawa was good. Linda and I are back from our trip, and things were great. WE stopped off at her cottage on the way back, to chill, and then we had some dinner along the highway. It's nice driving.

Today, I had an eye-doctor's appointment, in which I found out my eyes are progressing well, so I'm quite happy about that.

I may have found my car, but again, that'll remain hush-hush until I sign the papers. If things go well, I wonder if I can get it for this weekend?

I'm about 2/5 through Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I've been doing some pretty good stints with it, and I'm quite excited. I know Chris wasn't really excited about it, but I'm enjoying it.

Speaking of which, Chris should still be in Connecticut now. Interesting...

Thoughts of the day? Holy smoks, did you see that Air France plane?
