Are you happy Sean?Ok, yeah. I've been slacking. Well, on my blog specifically.
I've been surprising busy, or just doing things for the past few weeks. I've been either dragon boating, or baby-sitting Angeli and Beth, or at the gym.
And Linda came to the gym with me. I think she dug it. However, our visit was cut short by a thunderstorm and power failure.
What's been going on? Well, I've got my first race this weekend. If you want details, here they are:
My boat is the West Rouge Canoe Club - Masters A. We are scheduled to race at:
10:56am - "A" RACE #1
And this was from an email from the Co-Coach (Well, the wife of our coach...)
REMEMBER, YOU CANNOT PARK ON SITE OR IN THE AREA. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE SHUTTLE BUS FROM THE PICKERING GO STATION OR WALK FROM JUST OUTSIDE THE AREA. THIS TAKES TIME AND THERE MAY BE LINE UPS AND WAITS!
Just so you know, it's the Pickering Dragon Boat Race. It'll be at Frenchman's Bay.
If you can come, cool.
How do you pick up women? Seriously dude, be confident. All websites, all books, everyone will say the same thing. Look someone (male or female...You never know!) in the eyes, and be confident. Don't be afraid, and be yourself.
As a check, look deep into their eyes. If their pupils are dilated, you're in like Flynn. It's a sub-conscious thing.
Back at work...So, the weekend was pretty good, except for Monday night. I got an email that said a friend's mother passed away from cancer, and Monday night was the viewing.
Man, that's like the 3rd person I've heard this year dying of cancer. Ugh.
I was talking to a friend at Dragon Boat last night, and the thought came up about living to the age of 60. It seems now that if you can can get past 60, you're pretty much set. My mom was 60 when she passed. A Co-worker was 56. My friend's mother was 57. Just unbelievable.
And as well, scientists seem to be saying that with our current state of health care, and how much advancements we have, people have the opportunity to live well into their 100's.
I guess you have to pass that 60 mark.
Which gets into an interesting ethical debate. Should we live that long? I mean, nobody wants to die, however it is a fact of life. As well, can our resources sustain people living an extra 20 25 years?
don't mind me...Just getting in a weird mood. I don't really know the word, but yeah...I'm in that.
Traveloge BloggingWeekend was crappy. Well, the weather was really bad. Steve's cottage was nice, as Andrew, Steve, Vicki, Cam and Joanne were there. The weather was rainy and cold. Sometimes we saw the sun, sometimes not.
After, Linda and I got a place in Bracebridge, and relaxed. Again, sometimes seeing the sun, but not really.
And just now, Linda just brought me breakfast in bed. Ah, wireless internet and the continental breakfast. What else could I want?
sun.
Kickin' back on the afternoon...Chillin' at work. I'm pretty relaxed, but kinda afraid of the traffic going up to the Muskoka's.
What's good too is that I get to see Linda. It's been like 2 weeks, and I'm going through withdrawl...
kinda mushy, kinda not...
May 24! Yeah. Again, by far my favourite holiday of the year. (it beats out New year's eve too!)
Just the middle of the week...Yeah, so I'm gearin' up for may 24 at Steve Little's cottage up in the muskoka's. Two of Steve's friends were supposed to come, but they were notified a bit too late. which is fine, since most long weekend holidays are planned in advance.
I remember planning may 24 once starting in February. People thought I was nuts, until a few weeks before and we were all set.
Anyway, just chillin', and trying to stay sane so far. Weather's been ok, but the rain is a bit much lately. Again, I don't mind having the rain now, if it keeps it from the weekend, but it's not looking good.
Talbot, Tea and me.Chris and I went for tea tonight. Something on his mind as of late has been about his hobby, and what we do at his place Sunday nights.
We've been doing one-shot games for a while now, and we've run through a few interesting games. Some guys he invites seem to constantly put down the game the next few days following.
Chris has made it clear before we play what kind of games they are, and what could happen. However, the same thing pretty much happens over and over.
Which as brought Chris to the question of why is it so hard now? Shouldn't your hobby be fun, and not a thing of stress?
Some stress is ok, like if you're worried how it'll go, or if you're prepared. However, having resentment afterwards is not good. Even in other hobbies, if it's not fun, why do it? I scuba dive, and if I found it more stressful than fun, I would stop it. Even Dragon boating. Yes, it's taking up a lot of time, but I quite enjoy being on the water, and improving my skill.
I think Chris has figured out what he wants to do, but it's crappy when you have to start justifying your hobbies to others, especially yourself.
"This is Training Camp, not Lazy Camp"...This was what the coach kept yelling at us. I have to admit, it's kinda catchy.
I had a good time with the whole training camp. I feel I improved, and got plenty of exercise while doing so.
Just getting ready for May 24 weekend at Steve's cottage. Linda's gettin herself ready too. I'm glad, as she was stressing out a bit. She's ok now.
What else? Still doing well with the working out. I was at the gym today after practice, and I not too worse off for wear. I'm going tomorrow, and the Tuesday Dragon boat practice. That will be my rest day. It's not really that much of a rest, but I'll get rested this weekend coming up.
Man, what a boring post...
Rain and Dragon Boating...So, I just got back from my dragon boating practice. Yes, it was a tad rainy today, and a bit cold, but the practice was good. We just did laps around the bay, so it wasn't too bad. The coach didn't yell at me as much today, so I'm happy.
So, I showed a guy at work this blog. Ol' Teddy. He was having a bad day/week and so I told him that I get my frustrations out sometimes using this. He's the only one at work to know about this world, so I'm happy. Well, Scott Woodland knows, but he's not often online.
What else is going on? Not really sure. I'm keeping to my workout regimen. I'm going to try to eat clean for at least a week. That means no junk food and no beer. That will be hard. I did want to go out for a pint, but I've been clean since Monday (which isn't that long, but for the past few months, that's pretty good!)
I'm kinda diggin' this athletic kick I'm on.
And tomorrow I'm going to a Dragon Boat Training Camp, which is Running, paddling, more paddling, and more running, while a coach tells you how bad your technique is. Should be fun.
Linda's camping somewhere in the northern part of Algonquin park for a few days. I thought going out on the water was going to be kinda sucky, but camping in this? Not as nice.
What's new?So, trying to be a good 'blogger', and keep up with this, here's what's going on.
I'm on a new kinda work-out regimen. I kept up with it last week, and I'm going to try this week. I work out on Mondays, Wed, and if I can, fri/Sat, and Dragon boat on tues/Thurs. I take Sunday to rest, and start over.
so far, it's been good. THis weekend will be a bit weird because I'm doing a Dragon Boat Training Camp. I'll be doing lots of water practices, as well as some running stuff. Should be interesting. I don't think i'll be able to kick to the gym, but at least I'm staying active
Steve C. : Where are you? Coffee? Jen, if you read this, what's steve doing?
Back from the dead?!?Well, maybe it was a coffee break from the living dead, but who knows?
That's what I played with Chris and the gang on Sunday night.
But that doesn't explain my absence....What's been going on?
For one thing, I went diving in Chippawa, then I went back to the gym, and I'm doing dragon boat with the West Rouge Canoe Club.
Other than that, I went and saw Trippy finally on Friday night.
Linda came home for the weekend, so we chilled. That was nice. And now she's back in North bay finishing her course.
She's now a teacher, which is cool.
Short? yes. Boring? Completely.
Dad's home, and he didn't get me a Soca Warriors Jersey. He got me a T-Shirt. I may order the shirt online this week, as I would like to have one anyway.
But I'm feeling good being back at the gym, and doing Dragon Boat Practice 2 days a week.
More later, really.
Still Alive
Hey,
Just to let you know, I'm still ok. It's been busy,
and I'm back at the gym, so I'm happy about that.
Tonight I have Dragon Boat with the West Rouge Canoe
Club, and I'm picking Dad up tomorrow from the
airport. Hopefully he got me a Soca Warriors Jersey!
